Jockey Road, Sutton Coldfield
We were approached by Richard and Sarah to look at building a garden room to accommodate a chill-out/family room alongside a separate office environment.
Richard, a professional architect, presented us with some drawings that plotted the room as an ‘L – shape’ but unfortunately, we had to revise the plans as they would have limited the available space inside the room (due to garden width).
We ended up deciding to build along the length of the garden, oppose to building across the width- this allowed from a much larger garden building and still allowed for plenty of access around to the rear (which was now more of a storage area for sheds etc).
The room ended up showing a smaller elevation from the front, in a neat anthracite finish with an office window looking back at the house. This meant that Sarah could work from her new office and still keep her eye on the children as they played, but could now work without any homebound distractions in her quiet new space. The main room consists of a kitchenette with a kettle and fridge, a dart board area and a media wall complete with slatted composite cladding and lower storage for devices and games consoles.
The outcome of this room was definitely of the highest detail and standard, and this was with a huge help from Richard’s keen eye for detail and planning. Thanks to his drawings and pre-formulated ideas, and our constant communication, we were able to provide a stunning room with a modern, yet natural, element to the external finish. Thanks to the fact that we consulted each other through the course of the build, with a few chops and changes, we managed to construct exactly what they had hoped for.
