Russel and Denise had a bit of a storage problem — one that came with strings attached! Russel, a lifelong bass guitar enthusiast, had managed to collect over 20 bass guitars of all different makes and models. While his impressive collection was something to be proud of, it had begun to take over the house. Denise was more than ready to reclaim some of that space, and the idea of a bespoke garden room sounded like the perfect solution.
When we visited their home, we were delighted to find the garden had the perfect footprint for our 5m x 3m design. As soon as Russel mentioned his collection, our designer immediately envisioned a “Café Rock”-style studio — with guitars displayed proudly across the back wall, accentuated by soft LED lighting recessed neatly into the ceiling. The result? A beautifully sleek feature wall that showcased Russel’s instruments in style, far removed from their former life in the loft!
To complement the interior, we also built a composite-decked seating area just outside the room — the ideal spot for the couple to enjoy a coffee (or perhaps a tune or two) on warm afternoons. The slanted cheek details added a distinctive architectural touch that both Russel and Denise loved.
This project was a genuine pleasure from start to finish — not least because Fridays at their house often came with the irresistible smell of Denise’s famous bacon sandwiches. Funny how the whole team seemed extra eager to be on site at the end of the week!
